Now you have selected the colour let’s look at what bra shapes pair well with dress styles. From off-the-shoulder to plunge, to illusion necklines.
Illusion style – Needs a well fitted strapless bra. Some ladies want more support and go for clear straps. The straps will only give you 20% of your support, 10% on each shoulder. 80% of support comes from the fitted band. Also, clear straps can cheapen the look of your dress and can stick to your skin if you become hot.
V - Neck
V-neck – You will need straps for this one, unless you are a petite bust you could get away with a plunge strapless. For the average larger cup sizes, we recommend a plunge bra, therefore your bra won’t be seen in the centre of the dress. There are many lower V-neck specialist bras you can now buy from specialist wedding lingerie stores.
Low cut corset or low cut shape bodies can be worn. Again a lot of bridal lingerie sections and specialist lingerie brands have wonderful solution for an all in one piece to sit under your dress. Ladies with a smaller cup size of A-B, YES! If you want to go bra less you can. That just depends on how confident you are and also if the material isn’t too sheer to expose you. However there are cups that can be sewn into your dress and some dresses now come with them to protect your modesty if you chose to go braless.
Off the shoulder
We would recommend a strapless plunge so that the centre of the bra isn’t visible with this cut dress. An off the shoulder dress will sit differently against your chest compared to a standard strapless dress.
